Brighton Beach was full of striped deckchairs this day, it was hot and someone had brought along an umbrella, but its shadow hardly covered the chair!

I love the way people silhouette on beaches when you look into the sun, and I'm always happy to paint anyones favourite beach and if they have such a photo, put their subjects in.

There is very little on this beach canvas but you can see through the water and a vague coast on the horizon, making it very like the beach that insprired it with very little information.

it took 3 attempts to get the size and content of this canvas right for the room, but it looked wonderful when up. Commissions require so much card work to deliver something that makes the client and artists go for, but it is well worth it.

Inspired by sandiness I know wetland the bird sanctuary area beyond. Every time I visit more of the sand has been washed away - one day it will break through and they will be gone for ever. I paint them as often as I can.
